At ScanMeTool, protecting your privacy and data is fundamental. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our network diagnostic tools and website.

1. Information We Collect

Usage Data: When you use speed tests or IP tools, we temporarily collect anonymized metrics such as latency, throughput, packet loss, and signal strength. These measurements are aggregated and never linked to your personal identity.

Network Data: Wi-Fi scans generate SSID lists, channel info, and BSSID data — all processed locally in your session. We do not store or transmit your surrounding network details to persistent databases.

IP Address: For IP intelligence tools, the address you query is processed in real time. We log only anonymous request counts for infrastructure security, without retention of specific IP lookups.

Optional Contact Information: If you email us via contact forms, we retain your name, email, and message to respond. This data is never sold or used for marketing without consent.

2. Cookies & Similar Technologies

We use essential cookies to enable core functionality, like session identifiers and CSRF tokens. No tracking or advertising cookies are deployed. You may disable cookies in your settings, but some tools may require them to function correctly. For more details, refer to our Cookies Policy.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • Deliver and improve network testing accuracy and tool performance.
  • Monitor infrastructure against abuse, attacks, or excessive usage (rate limiting).
  • Respond to technical support requests or inquiries sent to info@scanmetool.com.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Use.

4. Data Retention

Network test results are ephemeral — they are discarded immediately after your session ends or within 1 hour. Contact form submissions are retained for 24 months to assist with follow-up inquiries, after which they are securely deleted.

5. Sharing & Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. Limited data may be shared with:

  • Service providers (cloud hosting, DDoS protection) bound by strict confidentiality agreements.
  • Law enforcement only when required by subpoena or court order.

6. Security Measures

We implement industry-standard encryption (TLS 1.3), automated data purging, firewalls, and regular vulnerability scans. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure; you use our tools at your own risk.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, contact us immediately for removal.

8. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may request access, correction, deletion, or portability of your data. To exercise these rights, email us at info@scanmetool.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. International Transfers

Our servers are located in the United States. By using ScanMeTool from outside the US, you consent to data processing in accordance with US laws.
